Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. Here’s a recipe to help you prepare this classic Chinese dish:
Ingredients:
1 pound flank steak, sliced into thin strips
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 green onions, sliced
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch. Add the sliced flank steak and toss to coat. Set aside to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
In a wok or large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the steak from the wok and set aside.
Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the wok. Add the sliced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are slightly softened.
Add the sliced bell peppers, minced garlic, minced ginger, black pepper, and salt to the wok. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
Add the beef broth, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to the wok. Stir to combine.
Return the cooked steak to the wok and stir to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the steak is heated through.
Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.
